Hi, my name is Sigita and I’m Yara’s mum.
Yara turned One in March 2022 and soon after she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. We were devastated to be told that she has multiple tumours on both kidneys and requires chemotherapy which may last a full year..
3 months after the cancer diagnosis Yara’s dad died suddenly and unexpectedly.. I was left on my own with a one year old who is battling cancer.
Yara lives with Aniridia (absence of iris in both eyes) and WAGR syndrome (she has a deletion of 46 genes). She is looked after by a hospital which is 3 hrs away from home. Sometimes we have to make multiple trips to the hospital and back each month for her chemotherapy and regular eye checks. Yara also attends various therapy sessions twice a week in another town which is almost an hour away. And blood tests weekly in our local town with results sent to Kaunas, hospital Yara is treated for kidney cancer.
Yara is surrounded by a team of medical staff who are overseeing chemotherapy treatment and ensuring that all WAGR related issues are monitored and dealt with as they arise - in Kaunas University Hospital (Kauno
Klinikos) in Lithuania. She is delayed in her development therefore it is important that she attends regular physio sessions and other appointments which are based in Šiauliai, Lithuania. We currently live in a small town called Joniškis, Lithuania.
Yara is a miracle baby and she is a fighter. we will beat cancer together! ❤️
We appreciate your support.

After several weeks of waiting for the lab test results it finally came back that in fact the operated tumours were Wilms Tumour. Devastating news and chemotherapy is now weekly again.
update - end of March, 2023. Yara turned two last week and we have been receiving chemotherapy for almost a year now. Thank you for you support and kindness ❤️
