Yana from Ukraine Comes to Canada!

Hi! We're Nate and Ali and we are asking for your help on behalf of our friend Yana!

Yana is our lovely friend from Ukraine. We met her while travelling in Thailand and loved her open, accepting and loving spirit. When war broke out in Ukraine we were thinking a lot about Yana and decided we should reach out. She was safe in Poland but really struggling to pay for rent and food with no chance to save or help support family members. Despite her cheerful and immensely positive outlook, Yana has gone through some very trying times, immense stress and of course crushing sadness for what her country continues to endure.

Nate and I had been wanting to help... to do, or offer something to others beyond just caring for ourselves. It seemed that the universe was offering an opportunity to share our blessings of a safe home, abundance of healthy food and friendship with Yana. And so with a courageous heart, a determined mind and big strong muscles on her tiny frame, Yana will head to Canada in under one week. She plans to arrive on June 14th. She will be living with us for as long as she needs; as little as six months but perhaps up to a year and will look for work as soon as she arrives.

We are raising money to buy her flight to Halifax and the costs associated with establishing a life here; purchasing a bike to commute to work, buying clothing and some furniture for her bedroom in our home to make it feel like her own. Yanna does beautiful paintings and we hope to turn some of her artwork into postcards etc that she could sell to help her to get set up in Canada so this will help us to invest in her painting supplies.
