Hi!
My name is Suzanne from The Netherlands and I am setting up a fund for my friend Yamen from Gaza. We connected online through a silly yet lovely game called Topheroes. We quickly became friends, talked a lot about our lives, hopes, dreams and how to burn other people's castles (in game not real life!).
Because his bank is not connected to gofundme, I will use my own and transfer all the money directly to Yamen and his family through bank transfer (or via other ways, please let me know if you have tips on that).
This is his story:
I'm Yamen Ahmed Al-Kahlout. I’m 18 years old, and I live in Dir-Al-Balah, Gaza.
I was always a top student—driven, hopeful, and focused on building a future where I could lift my family out of hardship. Despite the challenges we faced daily in Gaza, I never let go of my dreams. I studied with passion, earned an English Access Scholarship, and believed that education would be my way forward.
Then the war began… and everything changed.
In a matter of days, my world collapsed. Schools turned into shelters. My final year of high school—my most important—was lost. Our streets are now filled with destruction. Hospitals are overwhelmed. Food is limited. And every day feels like a fight just to stay alive, i already started to wear glasses during the war.
I live in fear—fear of being displaced at any moment, fear of losing everything, fear that my dreams will be buried under the rubble like so many other's.
But I refuse to give up.
I’m reaching out with all the hope I have left. I’m trying to raise the funds I need to escape this war zone and continue my education in safety. I want to build a life where I don’t have to fear for my future—or my life. I want the chance to grow, to learn, and to one day give back.
Your support can help me break this cycle of war and despair. It’s not just about me—it’s about three children, including my younger siblings, who still dream despite the darkness around us.
Every donation is a step toward safety. Toward education. Toward life.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
May God bless you for your kindness and your humanity.
