Founded in 1973, the Yale Undergraduate Gospel Choir (YGC) maintains an enthusiastic, dedicated membership of over 40 singers and musicians, operating with the mission of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song. We fulfill this mission through performances at Yale, throughout the New Haven area, and beyond during our annual Spring Tour. In years past, we’ve traveled to Costa Rica, India, New Orleans, Canada, and many more!
Our Spring Tour, a vital part of YGC’s purpose, allows us to take our song beyond New Haven. During our upcoming Spring Break, we will be traveling to Montego Bay, Jamaica! Our intent for this tour is to show love not only in the words that we say or sing, but also through the ways that we serve. We will focus on engaging with Jamaican communities by performing and volunteering at churches, schools, homeless shelters, nursing homes, and other spaces of need. We are eager to learn from Jamaica’s rich history and culture, while forming meaningful connections with people and organizations that we can continue to support in the future.
YGC is very grateful for all the support that organizations and individuals have shown us in the past! We are hoping to make this tour as impactful as possible. Therefore, over the next few months we will be raising approximately $40,000 to cover airfare, transportation, lodging, and food. Our hope is that, with the help of our families, friends, church communities, and loved ones, we can raise $15,000 for this amazing opportunity.
Singing His praises always,
YGC
