Please show your support for children with autism and their families and sponsor a child's trip to Disney World as part of Yaldeinu's Midwinter Respite Program - to take place NEXT week. Your support will enable families to enjoy a rare weeklong break, spending relaxed family time while their children enjoy the magic of a Disney vacation in Florida.
Your $100 donation will cover the cost of admission to Disney World for one child with autism, and will be a tremendous source of encouragement to the child, their parents and to all of us at Yaldeinu.
About Yaldeinu
The Yaldeinu School, located in Brooklyn, NY, was founded in 2006 to serve children with autism. The mission of the school is to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) build the skills they need to function and thrive - maximizing the independence of each child, while working to ease the burden on families.
Why This Trip is So Important
Parents of children with ASDs deal with continuous tension, exhaustion and pressure. In fact, a 2007 study from the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that mothers of children with autism are challenged with constant stress similar to that of soldiers in combat.
These parents need a break from the nonstop pressure they are under. The children too need a break from their constant, intense therapy schedules. Yet, for the families of Yaldeinu, even a brief respite is out of reach without the help of the community.
About the Mid-Winter Respite Program
Just a few weeks ago, Yaldeinu decided to offer a six-day Mid-Winter Respite Program for a small group of 10 children from January 6, 2016-January 12, 2016. As soon as word got out, they were inundated with requests from parents - and Yaldeinu is now planning a trip for 39 children with autism.
Most of the costs of the trip are covered. All staff will be volunteering their time for the trip, for one reason only – because they know what an impact a program like this has on the children and their families.
Each child will be accompanied one-to-one by a caring staff member. In addition, medical staff and supervisory staff will be flying with the children. They will be staying in a beautiful resort. With private pools and spacious eating areas, the accommodations will be ideal.
Trucks will be bringing kosher food from the NY area directly to the hotel, so that Yaldeinu's staff can personally supervise the cooking of Gluten Free Casein Free healthy meals that are so beneficial for the children.
Our Request
The planned highlight of our program is a trip to the Magic Kingdom – a once in a lifetime experience that the children can only dream about. However, tickets to the Magic Kingdom are $100 per person. For our group of over 100 individuals, that translates into over $10,000, which was not budgeted for, and which Yaldeinu cannot cover without your support.
In addition, the total funds originally dedicated to this project were sufficient for only 34 children. The cost of the trip per child is $2,000. In order to cover the costs for the last 5 children, we need to raise an additional $10,000.
Please consider sponsoring a child for $100. If you cannot do $100 now, any amount would make a big difference. Your generosity will ensure that our children can take a break and enjoy just being children for a few sun-drenched days, taking in the magic of Disney.
With your support, 39 families will reap the benefits of the Mid-Winter Respite Program all year long. The much anticipated trip will enable them to recharge their batteries and regain the large reserves of energy that they need to handle the intense needs of their child with autism.
