We are heartbroken to share that Megan, at just 29 years old, has been diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. This diagnosis came right before she began her pharmacy residency at the VA in Gainesville, a dream she worked so hard to achieve after years of school and training. Instead of spending this year caring for patients, she is now facing the fight of her life.

Her medical team has mapped out a long, aggressive plan. Right now, she is going through weekly chemotherapy that will last for five months. After chemo, she will undergo major surgery, followed by weeks of radiation, and then years of ongoing treatments to keep the cancer from coming back. It’s an exhausting road ahead, and she is only at the beginning of it.

Chemo takes a heavy toll on her body: nausea, fatigue, neuropathy and side effects that make even simple daily tasks difficult. Moreover, she has a constant schedule of doctor’s visits, infusions, physical therapy, and follow-ups. Even so, we trust in God’s plan and pray daily for His healing hand to guide Megan through each step.
