In Memory of Yafet Desta

We are deeply saddened to announce that Yafet passed away on Wednesday morning, Sept 6th after a long battle bravely borne.

Yafet came from a neighborhood in Addis Ababa called Gullele. It was so important to him to give back to the community he came from and he spent his whole adult life supporting families through difficult times. His donations meant that these families were able to receive school books, education and medicine and able to do things as rudimentary as putting bread on the table. It is hard to forget the image of Dad walking around with a black bag, demanding we

donate any clothes we “never wore” to people who needed them more or encouraging us to donate a portion of our pocket money, birthday or Christmas money to people who had almost nothing.

All monies raised will support vulnerable families in Gullele.
