Mercy University Hospital Cycle Tour de Ronda

Donation protected

At the end of the September / start of October, myself and 15 others are heading to Ronda, Southern Spain to partake in a challenging week's cycling to help raise funds to support the development of a new Cancer Care Centre at Mercy University Hospital (MUH). The new €2million facility aims to provide space for social and emotional support to cancer patients and their families in dealing with their diagnosis as well as a place to come to seek information and advice on treatment and life post cancer.

Each of the 4 days cycling will entail an average of 80km in hilly and challenging terrain and we are looking for you to match our toil, which we freely admit we will enjoy, with a donation to the Mercy Hospital appeal. All of the costs of the trip have been met by ourselves, and so all donations will go exclusively to the cause.

I’m sure that you will be aware that all charities have suffered financially from the curtailing of group events in the last 18 months, which has hindered their normal fundraising activities. With normal cancer screening procedures hampered with Covid also, it is likely that there will be a greater need for cancer services in the coming years.

Many thanks go to Sam Beamish for organising this great opportunity for us to hopefully raise some money for this worthy cause. While it will be challenging to climb those mountains, knowing that you have donated will help us greatly.

Thanks for your support
