On October 20, 2024, Robert was struck by a car while crossing a crosswalk, simply on a quick errand to get ice cream for his family. In a shocking accident, the driver turned left without looking or braking, hitting Robert directly. He was rushed to Humber Hospital and then urgently transferred to St. Michael’s Hospital with severe injuries: four broken ribs, seven displaced ribs, and a punctured lung. Since then, Robert has undergone intense medical procedures, including a chest drain and a six-hour surgery to reconstruct his ribs with titanium plates.
Robert faces a long recovery journey of at least six months before he can return to work. During this time, we estimate the family will need $25,000 to cover basic living costs—rent, food, fuel, internet—and partially covered physical therapy to aid Robert’s healing.
As Robert remains in the hospital, Adriana is bravely managing everything alone: caring for their children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and, in their son’s case, Down syndrome. This means vital therapies and support are essential. She’s also balancing school meetings, hospital logistics, and providing all of the emotional and practical care Robert and the kids need.
Their children miss their dad deeply and find comfort only in brief video calls with him. As this family faces overwhelming emotional and financial pressures, we’re raising funds to ease their financial burden so they can focus on Robert’s recovery and the children’s well-being.
Your support will directly impact this family in their greatest time of need. Any amount helps bring them closer to the stability and relief they need. Thank you for being a part of their recovery journey.
