Hi, my name is Khadijah. In May of 2020 I was blessed to purchase a 2015, fully loaded, Kia Soul. This was my first time ever having a car note with a reliable vehicle. In the past I had always purchased cash cars and lemons at a lower value, because that’s all I could afford. It was a blessing to have adequate transportation for me and my two children. I primarily used my car to take both of my children to school, 7 and 15 years old, and to go on location to service my clients. I’m a beauty professional and have a small business that I depend on to provide for my family. In August of this year, the Kia Boys stole and totaled my car. After I reported it stolen, it was found and placed in the city tow yard. I tried to retrieve my car and even just let the insurance company get to it but the tow yard denied me access for several unfounded reasons. To this day I’ve still not seen my car in it’s totaled state. My only evidence is the police report from the officers who found it. The tow yard sold my Kia for $1700 to a random person. I’ve spent the last 2 years paying a divorce lawyer and recovering from the global pandemic. My divorce finalized in August and just as I began to make plans to rebuild my life, I feel like I’ve been robbed not once but twice. I’ve been in therapy for all of my recent and former trauma. But I’m having a very rough time accepting that my hard work is not accumulating. When KMOV Investigates decided to pick up my story, I decided to be less prideful and ask for help. The amount I’m asking for is to cover the $17000 plus a down payment on a new vehicle. I’ve definitely incurred more expenses including, transportation, childcare help and renting cars since this has happened but I’m being as transparent as possible.
