Kinsley Baker is not only a past student of mine, but a daughter of a dear friend of mine. She's a beautiful soul - very empathetic - quite the gymnist - and just 11 years old.

At the beginning of June, she had braces put in, and then on June 23rd, she had tubes removed from her ears and a lymph node removed from the right side of her throat that had been causing her pain this year....only to discover this "lymph node" was not a lymph node at all - but a rare cancer.
It is a unique case not only bc of her age, but bc of the rarity of the cancer the Mayo Clinic is calling Acinic Cell Carcinoma.
Kinsley's samples were originally removed by Shannon doctors and tested there, but bc of how rare the cancer is, no one there could name what the removed mass was, only that it was abnormal. That's when the Mayo clinic became involved. Now the samples are at MD Anderson in Houston where the family will soon be traveling to speak with a cancer specialist.
Kinsley's mother said that this is a cancer that has to be checked for once yearly for the rest of Kinsley's life - so a severe one. Kinsley's mother, Nikki Baker, is a teacher and NEVER asks for anything but prayers, and her father, Justin Baker, is a state trooper and always by his family's side.
I think that prayers and monetary donations will serve this family best -as where one or more are gathered, so is Christ, and any trip costs a lot when you consider gas, food, hotels, etc. not to mention doctor bills and not knowing what course of action needs to be taken at this point or how often they will have to travel to Houston this summer.
Please pray for Kinsley and her family, and if you feel led to, please donate (whether it is $5, $10, $50, etc.) through this site to help them face the monetary demands that they will surely have - as this familys' mindset should be on Kinsley and her health/needs, and not that of money/bills.
