On July 29th,2024 Megan,(41yo) suffered a catastrophic brain injury in which she was without oxygen for many minutes. It has been 9 months since her injury and this is an update to the original post where the goal for Megan was to get her into a large Rehabilitation Hospital for intensive therapies. The initial weeks and first months after her injury, did not include physical therapy and as a result, Megan has developed contractures of her limbs and because her brain recovery has been lengthy, she was not able to qualify for the programs the Rehabilitation Hospital's offer. Megan has made great strides in her recovery but has more hills to climb. Megan's parents and family have played a huge part in her successes. They have been by her side from day one despite the fact they live across the state in the St.Louis area. They are devoted to providing the therapy in the facility where Megan resides as insurance will no longer cover.  Megan started an outpatient therapy program in KC where she participates for 3hrs of Physical, Speech, and Occupational therapies 2-3 times a week. Insurance does cover the therapy sessions but transportation is not covered by insurance and costs $3-500/ week. Many items purchased to assist Megan is out of pocket expenses by the family and in the future a wheelchair retrofitted vehicle will need to be purchased. Megan is scheduled to have a Baclofen pump inserted in her spine to relax her muscles and tendons so her arms and legs can be useful again.  Megan's speech is progressing as she works hard to pronounce words. We know Jesus has been with her every step of the way and your continued prayer is so appreciated. Continue praying asking for total brain and body restoration for Megan.
