Javon Dinnall medical school tuition assistance
I am Javon Dinnall, who is presently a final year medical student at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus. I was initially slated to have completed medical school in 2018 but because of financial constraints I was not able to do so. However, miracles are real. In November of 2019 I got a sponsorship that had settled the owed. Nonetheless that does not speak to this present year that I have to sit with the tuition fee being $28,000 USD.
I had matriculated directly from high school in 2013 into medicine. I was awarded a scholarship of $500,000 along with a student loan and a bursary from the University. Albeit I had these financial supports each successive semester I had shortfalls, these though I had them I was able to sit exams. It was not until the second semester of fourth year that they had accumulated to about 1.1 million dollars at the time. Coupled with this financial obligation to the UWI I had no day to day assistance in getting to school. Unsure of where I would get funds from to further continue because both scholarship and students loan gave fixed figures.
Now in 2021, I was not able to sit the most recent exams because of administrative nuances and financial holds. The next sitting tentatively is in December. Help me to sit the final exam!
I strongly believe it is pertinent that I graduate at this point in my life in order to help my family and my community.
