A United States War Veteran desperately needs your help. The Veterans Affairs Hospital has put our friend and coworker on “pain management” instead of providing him with the standard of care any civilian would consider reasonable and appropriate. Scott has been dealing with crippling bouts of pancreatitis which stems from his failing, painful, and inflamed gallbladder. The VA refuses to acknowledge that gallbladder-removal surgery is necessary despite seven doctors recommending that it be removed in order to alleviate Scott’s pain and suffering.
Scott’s latest stint in the VA-ER lasted five long days, after which he was discharged with no resolution or relief. Two days later, Scott was back in the VA-ER in excruciating pain, and was released with Morphine and Zofran and is now on “pain management.” Scott has been prescribed 11 medications per day to treat, or mask, the illnesses from which he suffers as a result of his 11 years of service, including his tour in Desert Storm. No longer on Active Duty, 70% disabled, and still a proud Veteran, Scott teaches advanced math, as well as advises and mentors at-risk students at an alternative high school in Oklahoma City. Unfortunately his level of pain and rapidly declining quality of life are now preventing Scott from being able to come to work and do the job he loves – serve at-risk students.
The donations collected through this Go Fund Me will provide much needed assistance to the Sellers’ family in paying for non-VA, surgery-related medical care, as the VA has declined to provide a reasonable standard of care for this war veteran for eight long months. Please help us show Scott and his family that his fellow Americans do honor his service to our country, his quality of life, and his return to serving America’s at-risk youth. At only 56 years old, “pain management” is not the quality of life Scott deserves. Please donate to help Scott; no amount is too small. Thank you.
