On May 31st, my son Jacob, was found unresponsive on the floor of his apartment by his girlfriend as she was returning home from work. Jacob had apparently had a series of seizures while home alone that night. He was rushed to the ER by ambulance where they had to sedate him so heavily in order to get his seizures to stop that they needed to intubate him to be sure he would be able to continue breathing. He was able to be removed from ventilator two days later only to then find out the seizures caused a rare condition called rhabdomyolisis which causes a breakdown of muscle tissue and releases a damaging protein into the blood. This condition caused Jake to go into renal failure. Now almost two weeks later, Jacob is still in the hospital and has been receiving dialysis. The doctors are hoping that his kidneys will begin working again on their own once all of his levels normalize but they don’t know for sure. Jake has obviously been out of work for these past two weeks and we are not sure when he will be able to return. Mounting medical expenses and even basic living expenses are unmanageable without a job. I am asking friends and family to please donate what you can to Jacob so the financial burden is one less stressful thing in his life right now. Prayers for a full recovery are also much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
