Let me start off by saying that I am so proud of this family. My son Tucker and his fiance Lizzy have climbed some huge mountains in the last 3 months. Not all have been tragic, they welcomed Hilton to the family which is a great blessing from God.He is amazing and was born happy and healthy on January 5th, the same birthday as his Grandpa Tom. The hard part started just about 5 weeks after Hilton was born, Lizzy started having blurred vision in her left eye after a routine eye appointment we thought she just needed a upgrade in her eyeglass prescription, unfortunately things continued to get worse leading to her left eye crossing towards her nose. We were referred to an opthmologist/neurologist, he diagnosed Lizzy with sixth nerve palsey and ordered an MRI. Nothing can prepare you to hear the words Brain Tumor. After the initial shock and reality sets in you realize what a life changing event this is. The tumor was diagnosed as a chondrosarcoma, it is a very rare tumor that starts in the cartilage or bone, hers started in her skull. Lizzy underwent surgery on April 7th and again the news would set us back, he could not get the whole tumor. It is in a very difficult part of her brain, he got what he could which was wonderful news, but she will require a specialized radiation treatment called proton radiation, North Carolina does not have a proton radiation center , sadly her insurance will only cover therapy in Jacksonville Florida. She will need 7 weeks of radiation everyday with the exception of Saturday and Sunday. As you can imagine the expense will be great as insurance does not cover housing to stay for 7 weeks. I ask you to consider a small donation to help cover the expense of housing while she has her treatment.
We thank you for any help and prayers are always appreciated .
