My twenty-five year old son, Alex, is severely physically disabled by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Because Alex needs to use a power wheelchair, the only way he can leave the house is in an wheelchair accessible van (to visit a doctor or even to go see a movie).
Our fifteen year-old handi-capped accessible van needed more repair work than it was worth, so we needed to replace it.
The handicapped adaptive modifications and equipment alone in the newer van is over $25,000, bringing the total cost to nearly $50,000 for a used vehicle. This is frankly, unaffordable for our struggling family.
It is very difficult for me to ask for help, but every penny helps and would be greatly appreciated.
