This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write. Roughly 2-3 weeks ago my husband Mike began to have random bruising pop up on his body that continued to worsen each day. We weren’t sure what was going on and planned to go for blood work on our day off later in the week. By Tuesday his arms were covered with more bruising, soreness, and he was experiencing a major headache.  At this point, I left work and met him to take him to get checked. We originally went to Urgent Care and they denied seeing us, instead sending him to the ER. I knew then that something was majorly wrong. At the ER, he had labs and X-rays done. Shortly after a doctor and nurse appeared to explain that his platelet and hemoglobin levels were very low but his white count was high and had abnormal cells.  The hematologist and oncologist wanted him transported to Pensacola for more testing. While we need to wait for the full blood test results from the bone marrow biopsy to know for sure if it’s AML or APL, he has been diagnosed today with Leukemia. Mike is starting treatments immediately. He will remain in inpatient care for treatment in Pensacola and as of now, we aren’t sure on the timeframe until more results come back.  Truly I am asking for Prayer and Positive vibes sent out for him. He needs any and all support that he can get right now. Asking for any kind of help is hard for me but I know this is going to be a stressful journey with lots of traveling back and forth and extra expenses while he receives treatments.  Mike will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. And to make this all more discerning, Mike doesn’t have insurance. Now with a pre-existing/diagnosed condition, that will be hard to come by.  Please even if you can’t give an amount, I ask that you SHARE to get the word out.  *Additionally, we are not telling the kids until after school ends next week as they have important testing for the end of the year.*
