Support Cindy's Second Lung Transplant Journey
Donation protected
Just three short years ago on February 4, 2021, an unimaginable event occurred in our lives. Cindy became the first person in San Antonio to receive a double-lung transplant due to complications from COVID-19. Year 1 with her new lungs was a huge milestone, and so were years 2 and 3.
However, these three years have not come easy, as they were filled with monthly and quarterly doctor’s visits to Austin and Houston for procedures, along with multiple emergency hospital visits. Although sometimes our lives appear to be normal, they are not. Cindy had to be placed on a donor list for a second lung transplant.
On July 17, 2024, a match was found and she received a second transplant at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, TX.
This page was created as friends and family have asked how they could be of assistance. Your previous and continued help, calls, and donations are truly and will forever be appreciated.
The next three to four months will be extremely critical and will require Cindy to remain in Houston away from her family. Cindy and Alex have two boys – Sergio (10) and Alejandro (6). Cindy is no longer employed and Alex is the sole provider.
Please continue to keep Cindy in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through this next journey. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Medical Center for giving Cindy a second chance.
And to the donor and their family whose tragic loss gave Cindy another opportunity at life. We pray for you.
