Hello!
Thank you for considering to help support me on my way to under 23 world championships in Portugal, which takes place near the end of July.
At the age of 20, I have earned 8 ICF International sprint kayak medals and 20 CKC (Canoe Kayak Canada) National sprint kayak medals. I am currently the top U23 K-1 1000m paddler in Canada. Training six days a week with my Head Coach Mike Kerrivan at the Cheema sprint racing club in Waverley, Nova Scotia and also with the CKC National Team Coach Chad Brooks.
I am proud to say that I have been nominated by the Canadian high performance committee to represent Canada and compete at U23 worlds in both the K1 1000m and K4 1000m discipline. This will be my third world championships, as I have previously competed at Jr. Worlds in 2013, and U23 worlds last year in 2014.
Unfortunately these competitions are self-funded and very expensive for a full time student athlete, costing $4500 for a trip lasting a little over a week.
Please help me on my way to U23 world championships by donating whatever you can! Every dollar I raise will go directly to helping me achieve my life goal of representing Canada at the Summer Olympic Games.
Thank you for letting me take a moment of your time,
Go Canada Go!
Marshall Hughes
