Rita Duran

Rita Duran is a caring, passionate and faithful person whose life changed in an instant one evening in September 2019 on her way home from work. A near fatal car accident left Rita in an unstable condition with a terrible number of broken bones and internal bleeding. Rita was taken to the ICU immediately, leaving her family and loved ones shattered at the outcomes.
      Miraculously, Rita has persevered through all odds. Her strength has shown through even when she was left unable to speak or stay awake for long periods of time. Rita was in the ICU for months at an end and was just recently transferred to a Step Down Unit.
      Her family’s lives have been changed forever as well. In addition to caring for Rita after the devastating accident, medical bills and home bills have piled up and need to be taken care of.
      Fighting each day, Rita still misses and talks about her students and colleagues regularly. Even though she is not there to help them, she continues to think of strategies that we can use to help students succeed.  She worked as a reading intervention specialist at an elementary school and connected with students and inspired them every single day. She supported her loved ones’ dreams and goals to the best of her ability and was always there to lend a helping hand when others needed it. 
      In this time of need, and with the approval of Rita and her family, we are asking for any financial assistance you can provide to cover the monetary stresses facing the family after the accident. The proceeds will go to medical bills not covered by insurance. As Rita learns to utilize her arms and legs again, she will need assistance to cover the financial gap. Due to the accident, she is unable to go back to work for the foreseeable future.
