
Grace to National Spelling Bee

Grace Parrott of Ketchikan, a Schoenbar Middle School 8th grader, was invited to participate at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. through the RSVBee Program. She is the KGBSD District champion and the first person EVER from Ketchikan to compete in the national bee! Washington D.C. is expensive and there are no funds from the school district to help get her there. Bee Week travel dates are May 26-June 2nd.
Total Costs: $3,500
Entry Fee $750
Airfare $920 - with companion fare
Hotel $1,100 - Airbnb, within walking distance to the venue
Food $580 - DC is EXPENSIVE when it comes to food
Fun $150 - Most sightseeing things are free, but transportation is not
