My name is Mohammed Al-Atawi. 42-year-old biomedical engineer , displaced from Gaza City. and a father to three children: Amir, Adam, and Jude, whose ages range from 6 to 13 years old. Their dreams are simple — to learn and become accomplished individuals.
However, the war came and shattered their dreams along with the dreams of all children. We were forced to leave our home and move to a place that does not resemble us, nor do we resemble it — a place with no food, no water, and no medicine. We left behind our dreams to escape death, yet it continues to chase us wherever we go. Our meals are the same for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When one of us falls ill, we don’t know what to do or where to go, as death looms around us, threatening everything that moves.
The war subsided slightly, but death did not stop. We came to realize that we are in a war that spares no one — survival for the fittest. Then came the devastating news of our dream home being destroyed, striking us like a thunderbolt. No hospital, no school, no safe haven, no source of reassurance to calm the children’s fears each night as the sound of rockets echoes. Our dreams have been shattered, and the children have fallen ill with strange diseases manifesting on their bodies. I stood helpless, not knowing what to do.
This is when I decided to start this donation campaign to save my children and get them out of Gaza, which has become a living hell. Winter has arrived, bringing with it the bitter cold, and we are still living in a tent that offers no warmth, no safety — only rats and unfamiliar insects.
Should I sacrifice my children, or do I still have a chance to get them out of Gaza and secure a new future for them? I don’t know.
Therefore, I ask everyone for help, even if it is just a little, because little by little can one day become a lot. I urge anyone who reads or hears my plea to think carefully: what if you were in my position, and your children were in the place of mine? What would you do?
