Help River

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and a plea for help. On Saturday, December 10th the lives of Missy and Dak and their three-year-old boy, River, took an unexpected and devastating turn. River has been diagnosed with several aggressive tumors on his brain and spinal column.

On Monday the medical team confirmed the presence of cancerous cells in the fluid, but they were not able to get enough cells to confirm pathology. River is scheduled to have surgery today, where they will remove a part of his spine to access the tumors. They will then wait 7-10 days for pathology results before they can start treatment. The uncertainty and fear that come with a cancer diagnosis are unimaginable, and we know that it’s important to rally around Missy, Dak, and River to support them during this challenging time.

River has been admitted to the Calgary Children’s hospital, and Missy and Dak will be staying up there to be with him for the foreseeable future. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to provide financial support to the family as they navigate costs of being away from home and unforeseen medical bills.

Missy and Dak are incredible parents who have dedicated their lives to creating a loving and nurturing environment for River. Because they are now faced with the arduous task of navigating the complexities of medical treatments and emotional challenges that will come with caring for River, we created this page to help ease the financial strain that has been brought upon them. We want to allow Missy and Dak the ability to focus all their energy to what matters to them most in this world – supporting River through his treatment.
