By the grace of G-d, I was able to ask for help and was sent to the sober living facility that I am presently at. For the first time since I was 13 years old I have been sober for 37 consecutive days (at the time of the posting). This house provides a safe place to live and staff who monitor me to make sure I stay active, keep a regular schedule, attend AA meetings, and maintain a job. The women who live here provide so much emotional support and empathy that I am not to hard on myself and do not fall into negative thinking that leads to a relapse. Research has proven that living in a sober living facility for 6 months to 1 year dramatically increases a person’s chance of maintaining long-term and even life-long sobriety. However, despite Trump declaring the opioid crisis a national state of emergency, insurance does not cover the cost of sober living. My goal is to raise the amount of money I would need to support me in living in a sober living structured environment for at least 6 months.
I feel ashamed to have to ask for help for this, however, I need the treatment that is being offered to me here because it will literally save my life. I am tired of the life that I used to live and feel that I have come a long way since I have been here. Please open your hearts and help me in any way that you can. Any support that you can provide will be extremely appreciated.
