i always said if i had a platform i'd use it for raising awareness or help in any way i can do so. if i have a voice i'd speak up for those who need to be heard. (posted with permission/consent) This is James,He's Been Homeless since 2017 that's 7 years,Both his parents unfortunately passed within 4 months of each other from Cancer,he has no other relatives and is living homless in the streets of newcastle because Universal credit took 22 weeks to accept his case and due to this they would only backdate so much leaving him with next to nothing and in arrears regarding his rent,he tried to appeal and went to court to discuss&agree to make a payment scheme to pay off this while also getting housing support but they refused,this leaving them to kicking him out and nowhere to go,some or many of you might know him as the man that makes friendship bracelets as his only way of making little to no money,however i've known james for almost a year and a half,brought him food/money,clothing anything that i can to help&had many conversations with him and he's of of the nicest and respectful people out there who is always asking others how their day has been or tells them that they are appreciated. james also has type 1 diabetes which is serious for someone in his condition. Yesterday i happened to see him again,he currently has a tent and a few belongings where he stays in town,however sometime during the early hours of Monday morning he found a letter stuck to the outside of his Tent/only home,asking him to leave by 4pm otherwise they will take legal action to remove him&his belongings... what upsets me is the sense of community newcastle once had,the caring hand to help others,why suddenly are the system trying to take and take from those who have nothing left to give? from those who are vulnerable and need help. I don't want james to be yet another person that falls through the cracks and is forgotten about because no one heard his story,or spoke up for him,and so i have set up a go fund me to raise any money we can to help this gentleman get what needs so that he can live a normal life again and take care of his health. Any money that is donated can be done so in your name or anonymously&any ammount will be appreciated, i would also be grateful if you could share this so that others might be able to help. once all money has been raised it will be supervised and used accordingly for things such as housing,food,clothing&health. if you have reached the end,thank you for taking the time reading in a packet of some sweets he gave my little one the first one out the wrapper was 'be kind' a sign is a sign always,have a lovely day
