Help me get a car so I can go to work.

Hi, my name is Adela, and I'm a tutor and interventionist at Middletown High School. I volunteered to be a long-term substitute teacher for a Spanish class at MHS when I learned my daughter had no Spanish teacher. I agreed to teach Spanish until they found the proper teacher. At first, a couple of friends dropped me off at the high school very early in the morning, around 6:40 am, and to go back home, and I used to walk from MHS to Plaza Drive, off Washington Street. Every day. Until a co-worker saw me walking home and gave me a ride. A couple of days later, another co-worker gave me another ride and has continued to drive me home every day.

 

Coming to work has not been easy. If I don't come to work, I don't get paid. I don't get sick or personal days. I don't get paid when there are holidays, vacations, or snow days. So my paycheck goes to pay the rent, and there are weeks my salary is not enough. I would love to buy a car to be more independent. Walking sometimes is not an option since I have mobility issues after an accident I had three years ago. And there are days that my co-worker can't take me home, and it is difficult for me to find a ride. I don't want a fancy car. What I want is a car that can take me to work, do groceries for my children and me, and allow me to further my education so I can pursue better job opportunities.
