I’m creating this GoFundMe for my dear friend Alecia and her family, some of the most hardworking, kind, and faith-filled people I know. They are facing a heartbreaking and complex medical journey with their daughter, and while they’ve met every challenge with courage and grace, the financial burden has become more than they can carry alone. Our goal is to come together as a community to lift some of that weight and show them they’re not in this fight by themselves.

Earlier this year, 20-year-old Alayna Williams - once healthy, active, and full of life- began experiencing sudden discoloration in her feet that appeared to be caused by restricted blood flow. What followed was an overwhelming and unexpected medical journey that has taken her to multiple hospitals and specialists across several states.

After a week-long hospitalization at a children’s hospital and later a neurological workup at a large Atlanta hospital, many serious conditions were ruled out, yet no clear answers were found. In the months that followed, Alayna’s symptoms worsened - including numbness, tingling, shooting pains, and loss of feeling in her feet, all while she faced multiple referrals and denials for care from doctors unsure how to help.

Recently, Alayna finally found a specialist who is uncovering the root causes of her condition. She has since been diagnosed with several complex disorders, including long COVID, which has led to microclotting (tiny clots that restrict blood flow throughout the body), as well as POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome). These conditions together cause extreme fatigue, brain fog, heart palpitations, dizziness, and allergic-type reactions that make daily life very exhausting and challenging.

In addition, doctors discovered that Alayna has a severe iliac vein compression in her pelvis, a structural problem that greatly limits circulation from her lower body back to her heart. When combined with the microclotting, it creates a dangerous situation that affects her heart, lungs, and brain function.

Alayna must now travel across the country for surgery to repair the vein compression and prevent further complications. This is the most significant single expense so far, but it comes after months of costly tests, travel, and specialist visits; and it will be followed by continued care and recovery needs afterward.

This fundraiser has been set up to help ease the financial burden of the surgery, travel, and ongoing medical expenses that insurance does not fully cover. Every prayer, share, and contribution means the world to the Williams family as they continue walking this unexpected journey with hope and faith for Alayna’s full healing and restored health.
