Hello! My name is Tiffany. I lost my job back in April of this year, and since then, I have struggled with paying bills, feeding myself, and over all surviving.
Shortly after losing my job, I applied for unemployment, as well as SNAP benefits. I was denied SNAP benefits twice (for being “able-bodied”). I was also denied unemployment benefits, due to being considered “at fault”. I have appealed this denial on every level, being that I was wrongfully terminated due to (disability) discrimination. I have provided the Department of Labor solid evidence of wrongful termination multiple times, and have been denied each time. Though I do still plan to seek justice for being wrongfully terminated, I am in dire need of surviving, in the meantime.
I have managed to do odd-end, creative work occasionally, but it’s not nearly enough to cover all of my necessities. I have been treating job-seeking as practically full-time work, but I have not had any luck so far.
Additionally, I am autistic; and though companies are not LEGALLY able to discriminate based on disabilities, my diagnosis does impact whether or not I am considered for some professional roles.
Even if you are not able to donate, I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read my story and/or share. All donations received will be used in keeping myself housed, fed and provide the funds to support my ability to continue my job search (phone bill, gas, etc.)
Thank you so much for your time and thoughtfulness!
