Support for Leah's Family

As you may know about Blanca’s journey with motherhood, she has managed to work hard to support her daughter, Leah, since the day she was born. Tragically in 2022, Leah was diagnosed with pediatric brain cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), and after 17 months of a tremendously hard battle, Leah passed away recently in January 2024. During this time, her parents, who are her sole providers, Blanca and Virgil, have made many financial sacrifices to prioritize Leah’s health and be present every step of the way.

On the heels of Leah’s recent passing, Blanca received news that DC paid leave cannot cover grievances, so as a result, this has left both her and Virgil in a tight situation. We graciously ask for your help by contributing or spreading the word to uplift Leah’s parents and help alleviate their financial stress so they may focus on the proper grieving time they both importantly need.

Despite this tremendously difficult loss, Blanca and Virgil hope to share Leah’s story in her cancer journey one day and advocate for parents who critically need support to properly grieve their children.
