Lindsey is our child and we love her as such - everyone she meets, from neighborhood friends to casual acquaintances on walks, loves her and how friendly and playful she is! As you can imagine, it is truly heartbreaking to see our precious girl in pain! Lindsey loves to go for walks, play in the yard and cuddle on the couch! She deserves to continue to enjoy these things, and for us to continue to enjoy her! She is a very good girl, in a lot of pain and very confused. Despite our best efforts, after 2 months of vets visits, labs, medication and an X-ray there has been no improvement. Last week we had an MRI, which revealed surgery will be needed. The bills are piling up and we need help to give Lindsey the quality of life she deserves for years to come. If you could find it in your heart, any donation makes a difference! Thank you in advance for any and all help!
Below is the "assessment/plan" from Lindsey's discharge papers from last week's appointment.
"Lindsey was a pleasure to care for. Her MRI revealed a disc herniation at the lowest level in the spine, L7-S1. This is compressing the nerve roots passing through the spinal canal at this level, and explains her current symptoms (difficulty rising, pain, choppy steps, weakness). We often can choose between medical/conservative management or surgery for this condition. However, since she is still affected 2 months later, I worry that the option of medical treatment is not going to be effective. Therefore, surgery would be the best solution to alleviate pain and allow her to get back to her normal active self for years to come. Her prognosis to return to normal is excellent."
