Update- Milo is home! He had an external plate with pins put on. It will stay bandaged for a few weeks until his skin heals around the pins going into his leg. At that point the bandages can come off, which means he will be a bit of a bionic dog for 4-6 more weeks until its healed. The good news is, is that he will not have this plate or the pins inside of his leg forever and hopefully it should not stunt the growth in his leg!

Please help a mans best friend in need! Milo is a 5 month old purebred Golden Retriever. As he was coming up the back stairwell with his sister, Hunny, he lost his footing at the top and fell all the way back down, backwards!  He was rushed to his veterinarian, where it was found that he had a broken femur in his left hind leg.  He was told he would have to have emergency surgery in Ithaca, NY.  My brother, Milo's dad, was rushing him there and stopped in Cicero to get gas.  To make an awful situation worse,  as he got back in the truck to get going again, his truck wouldn't start! My parents had to rush to him to give him a vehicle to get Milo to Ithaca.  After arriving there, he was told Milo would need a plate and some pins put in and that the surgery would be upwards of $7,000 !  He applied for a pet care credit card which gave him $3,500. He is going to need aftercare and supplies with the healing process as well. My brother is devastated with the bad luck that has been hovering over his head for far too long.  Please help us help them! Literally anything will help cover the cost of Milo's surgery and hopefully even getting his truck started again.  I know he would be extremely surprised and appreciative of all the help we can give! Poor Milo is inseparable from his sister and is going to be down all summer long. This pup needs our help!
