One June day in 2007, my grandfather told me there were free dogs at the park. I asked him to get me a boy dog and he brought me a girl dog.
I couldn't have been more overjoyed to receive my little girl dog and to share love and adventures with her over the next 14 years. Kamala has been by my side through all the good and not-so-good parts of life and has been my road trip partner all over the country. Kamala is the best road tripper and loves to look out the window and nap in my laundry basket.
She demands pets by growling when you stop petting her. She believes Furbo is God. Kamala loves her morning walks and taking in all the smells at the parks. She loves lounging and exploring in our front and back yards and hanging out with her Chihuahua friend, Stella, and barking at her new Burnedoodle puppy friend, Truffles.
She looks forward to finding all the treats I hide in a blanket every evening. She's the best cuddler ever and loves giving morning kisses! She is still very much active and enjoying life!
My beloved Kamala was diagnosed with oral melanoma (cancer) at the end of October. Unfortunately, VCA Animal Hospital was unable to remove it all through surgery without the risk of causing extreme discomfort. They recommended a melanoma vaccine for dogs. Essentially, the vaccine is a shot with minimal to no side effects that boost the immune system to minimize spread and prolong life and quality of life. They recommend 4 doses to start that cost $2200. It has been financially taxing to already pay for her CT scan and surgery. Because Kamala is still very much enjoying life, food, treats, walks, and hanging with her doggy and human friends, I want to enable her to do those things as long as possible and as comfortable as possible. I know she would love to play in the snow this winter. We are grateful for any and all contributions during this challenging time. Thank you.
