Hello! My name is Lyndsay Faith, and I need a new leg. Now, to most people that might sound odd or strange, but for me it’s a very normal, and very real issue. When I was 12 I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, basically cancer of my right leg bone. After a few months of chemo, it was decided that to keep me alive my leg needed to be amputated at the knee.

After the wound healed, I needed to relearn how to walk, but with a prosthetic leg. Over the last 10 years I have gone through over 8 prosthetic pieces, from growth spurts to break downs. Now is that wonderful time where I need a new one! Before my legs were covered by my insurance, but they have all been pretty temperamental. I cannot go to the beach. I must say no to any and all water rides, even ones with little splashing. Absolutely no water can be near or in my leg, which, as you could imagine, can make life pretty difficult. And don't even mention rainy weather.

This new leg that I am trying to get is only 85% covered by my insurance, but there is an upside to this, it’s water resistant! Here I come, rain or shine! I can't even begin to write how much this would mean to me, removing the worry alone that I feel on a daily basis is enough to change my life forever.

I am very active in my daily life; I'm a freelance stage manager for the arts so I am up and down stairs and ladders to get into my booth, I'm a part-time college student so I walk from class to class and I take the bus to and from home.
