Dear Friends and Family,
I want to share with you an exciting and challenging ministry opportunity God has presented to me. From around May 10th through around May 24th, I hope to go to Israel to both serve and learn as part of a Travel-Study course through East Texas Baptist University. Each year, ETBU offers various May-term courses all over the globe and, this year, a group of students will be traveling through the Holy Land of Israel to learn about Christian Servant Leadership through hands-on mission experiences, unique tour opportunities and class time.
As many know, God has called me to bi-vocational ministry though nursing. I have always had a passion for caring for people both in meeting physical needs and spiritual/emotional needs. Since I was a little girl, I have felt a call to a life devoted to serving God and bringing Him glory and He is continually revealing more and more about what that looks like. As a Christian nurse, it will be my honor to be that first line of defense not only in helping to heal physical ailments but spiritual struggles as well. I believe that a trip like this will help equip me for this life in ministry by allowing me to learn about Christian Servant Leadership where it all began.
Some of the things that we will be doing on this trip:
- Take a walking tour of Jerusalem
- Visit and Volunteer at a Home for Holocaust Survivors in Haifa
- Visit Caesarea Maritima where we will compare the leadership styles of Herod, Pilate, and other leaders
- Visit Carmelite Monastery at Mt. Carmel
- Volunteer at Baruch Padeh Medical Center
- Serve at a Community Center for African Refugees in Jerusalem
- Visit locations in Jesus’ life related to servant leadership
- Volunteer with International Christian Embassy of Jerusalem (ICEJ) in Tel Aviv working with ministries like their red carpet room (ministry to human trafficking victims)
What I hope to accomplish on this trip:
- First, I will be allowing God to work in my life through the personal enrichment that comes from this type of a trip.
- Second, I will be involved in work projects within the community where I can show by my actions how much God loves them.
- Third, I will aid in the encouragement of Christians in the area. My presence will help bolster their spirits and support their work.
I have dreamed of travelling to the Holy Land for as long as I can remember and now it seem as though that dream might come true! I feel that God has placed this opportunity in my path and will provide as He sees fit in His perfect timing. I would love to be in your thoughts as I prepare for this trip!
I'm excited about the opportunity and experience that lies ahead. But, I cannot do this alone. I need your support to help me go to Israel to spread the love of Christ and learn further about a life devoted to Christian servant-leadership. I hope you see the value in what I will accomplish. As you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. I need to raise $3,300 by the end of March. If you can support me in a financial way, I would be very grateful. And, most importantly, I also need your prayer support. Prayer is the fuel that will allow me to be successful as I follow God's leading in ministry. Without prayer, nothing will happen.
If you would like to be part of this mission through your financial support, you may either contribute to my GoFundMe account or you can send a check made out to me to the address below:

While money is important, it comes in a very distant second to my need for your prayer support. Since prayer support is so important to the success of this mission, I would like to know if I can count on you in that area. Please pray daily for the areas listed.
Because they haven't heard,
Lauren McCollum
