Sadly, on June 27, 2015 my Brother In Law, Juan Piedra passed away after a very rough battle with cancer. Juan was taken, far too soon, from his wife Rocio and his 2 children, Joanna and Juanito.
Juan's struggle with cancer was an extremely painful one. Cancer sucks, plain and simple. And in this case, it took a truly great man. He had just turned 39 years old in May. Yes, that young. Cancer doesn't care how old or how young you are. It knows no bounds. It doesn't discriminate. While his passing is devastating to his family, friends, and all who knew him, the fact that he is no longer in pain and suffering gives us great comfort.
Now we are all left to deal with the huge hole that the loss of him has left in our hearts and in our lives. The saying, "to know him was to love him", could not be more fitting when speaking of Juan. He made everyone he met feel like they'd known him a lifetime. He was honorable, trustworthy, loyal, kind, generous, gentle, and funny with an absolute heart of gold. If you know Juan, then you no doubt are agreeing with all of this and adding your own description of Juan yourself in your mind, or speaking them aloud. The list of all his amazing attributes could go on and on and on.
The cancer was so aggressive and gave Juan no mercy. It did not allow him to work at all during these last 4 months. The everyday bills piled up; mortgage, household expenses, etc., but on top of all that pressure is the medical expenses not covered by insurance. All of these remain and continue to rise. Unfortunately, the expense of the funeral is now added to the endless financial challenges already existing.
My hope is that this Go Fund Me campaign, will help to bring Rocio some peace of mind that financial assistance could give her at this extremely difficult time. She is grieving the loss of her husband and the children the loss of their Father. I pray that, with your help, they will be given the great gift of financial assistance. Anything you can give would help tremendously. Juan has touched so many hearts out there and I know that any help given to his family; would be such an honor to him and his memory. It would bring him such happiness to know that they are being extended a helping hand.
I know that a lot of people are experiencing financial difficulties themselves at this time, so even the smallest donation would be greatly appreciated. A $5.00 donation multiplied by many people would give amazing results. If you cannot donate, I would still like to thank you for reading about this amazing man we call Husband, Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He will be missed by so many people.
