On Sunday June 21, 2015 My sister Kimiko Sasaki was hospitalized with what they thought was a blood clot or collapsed artery in the neck. They were concerned about a potential stroke at the time. After undergoing a CAT scan & an MRI. They continued with hourly neurological exams for the next few hours. She was conscious and able to speak but experiencing a lot of pain. She is unable to stand without experiencing dizziness or being disoriented when standing upright.
Monday June 22,2015 It was confirmed that my sister had a moderate sized stroke in the cerebellum vertebral artery dissection. She is in a lot of pain and they are doing all they can to help make her as comfortable as possible at this time.
Tuesday June, 23,2015 another CAT scan was done showing swelling around where the stroke was in her brain has increased. They have given her a steroids to help. They will continue checking on her every few hours. If the swelling gets worse they will move her into the ICU to be monitored closer.
Wednesday June 24,2015 She is still in a lot of pain & discomfort. They have continued with the steroids for inflammation. She was able to get a massage today. Since there has been no real change in her condition she will not be transferred to the ICU at this time.
Thursday June 25, 2015 - Saturday June 27, 2015 Good news she is NOT in the ICU. They are trying to find the right combination of medications that will work for her. She is still trying to cope with the pain and has not been able to get to her feet.
Friday 26,2015 Happy 32nd Birthday! Although this felt like the worse birthday ever as you said. We were all celebrating with you that you are here with us today.
Sunday June 28,2015 Today has been just about the hardest day for her. Physical Therapy had her up and out of bed she was able to take baby steps with complete assistance. As she has slight numbness in her left extremities it is making it very difficult for her to complete these simple tasks. It was very intense for her causing nausea and vomiting. She is still in lots of pain, the doctor seems to be very confused to why we have not seen as much improvement as they thought.
For those that do not know Kimiko. She is a stay at home mother of two wonderful children Makayla (4) & Steele (1). Since having the stroke she has been unable to care for her little ones, it has been a rough road on both sides. They have experienced family near and far coming to help with them and mommy. This had been very difficult journey on them as well as mommy not being able to be home with them doing everyday activities. We are praying for her to be able to be back at home with her little ones. Although going home is not going to be easy it will be a huge adjustment for all of them, as mommy will be in need of 24 hour care as well as attending physical therapy to get back to her strong self.
We are all on alert and praying for her speedy recovery to get home to her little ones. I can't express how thankful I am for everyone's kind words, thoughts, prayers, and support for our family. Thank you so much. Any donations made will help cover the cost of medical bills.
