Hi everyone! My name is Victoria! I'm a trans woman living in Texas and I need help making it to the end of the month.
I hate asking for money, but Greg Abbott has put me in an impossible situation. I'm a student trying to get my life together and earn my degree, and I haven't had the best of luck with employment lately. All my work references are from before my transition, and because the State of Texas has stopped all name and gender marker changes I basically have to out myself as trans and roll the dice that a potential employer doesn't have an issue with that at any job interview I'd land.
For a while I've been making money by driving for Ubereats but I have been de-facto suspended from the platform for being trans, even though Uber has a form for updating your gender identity so I perhaps foolishly thought I'd be okay. They asked me to retake my profile picture three times now, and my photo has been stuck in the approval process for about two weeks now. I've contacted support numerous times about what's taking so long, and each time I'm given the run around and told that they're "working on it." I suspect that it's because I don't look very much like my driver's license photo anymore. I am now shut out of what's been my sole source of income for a year, and stuck having to navigate the job market in a state where I have no legal protections against discrimination.
I don't want to be greedy or lazy, which is why I'm only asking for enough to cover what I'm short on for rent, as well as other miscellaneous expenses like my phone and internet bills. If you can provide help, I'd be greatly appreciative of whatever you can provide.
Thank you for listening to my story. Be Vigilant! I love you! And don't let the bastards grind you down.
