Joeys hope
Hi my name is Edie & my dear friend Joey contracted sepsis. Then on June 1st was taken by ambulance from his home & was put into Kaisers ICU in Santa Rosa. He was released from there, after 9 days, to a rehabilitation center. He was sent back to Kaiser after only 36 hours. It seems the sepsis had attached itself to Joeys heart valve which was put in 3 years ago. Subsequently when the sepsis was breaking away from his heart valve, pieces were traveling thru his veins to his brain & giving him small strokes.
Joey has now been transferred to San Francisco's UCSF on 6/21 & is scheduled for surgery Thursday 7/1/21. At which time they will repair the damage the sepsis has caused & replace his heart valve.
In the meantime the expenses the family has accrued has been extensive. His wife Peggy has been by his side through this whole ordeal of course & has taken a leave of absence from work. She probably will not be able to return to work right away because when Joey is finally released he will need constant care while he rebuilds his strength.
Although the family has been very stubborn on accepting help they've come to realize at this pace they have to.
So with that being said the family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, well-wishes, visits & voice mails they have helped tremendously!
