My son's great-grandmother, Carol Ann (Moore) Watt died peacefully and without pain on September 25, 2025, with her only child Lori Watt and her guardian cat Suki by her side after an extended illness.
In death she wanted to join her husband in advancing medical science so doctors could help others, but was sadly unable to due so because of the nature of her illness. She did not have life insurance and was on Social Security, and our family needs financial help with final arrangements.
Carol was born December 10, 1946 in Altoona, PA, a rainbow baby to James (Jim) and Marion (Sunderland) Moore. She graduated from Altoona High School in 1964.
She married her high school sweetheart John (Jack) Watt in 1965 and together they moved to Erie, Pennsylvania. They opened one of Erie's first "one-stop" home improvement stores, C&J's. They also owned Blue Motors and The Nissan Store. Carol also loved working at Carlisle's.
Carol enjoyed parties, cards, and table games with friends and family. She was a prankster and had a dark, ironic sense of humor. She held a special place in her heart for the people at Harborcreek Senior Apartments where she found joy and community in her later years, but later in life as her health declined she isolated herself from friends and family, something she profoundly regretted in the end.
She especially delighted in her grandchildren's performances in local theatres like PACA, Erie Youtheatre, Erie Playhouse, and Erie All-City Marching Band.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2016 after nearly 50 years of marriage.
Besides her daughter, she is survived by her grandchildren Jared Anthony Bonaminio Watt and Ryan Elizabeth Watt. She is also survived by her great-grandsons Owen and Asher Sweeney.
A celebration of life will be held in December and will be announced at a later date.
