Kevin needs our help.

Those of you who know Kevin Szuminski already know that he will do anything to help everyone he meets. Recently, Kevin's health has declined. He can no longer work. Kevin's diabetes and medical ailments have affected his heart, kidneys, and blood pressure. He now needs dialysis and assistance walking.

If you don't know Kevin, he has worked as a mechanic, maintenance man, and security officer as well as a Code Enforcement Officer, Court Officer, and Police Dispatcher for the City of Hamtramck. He also served with the Hamtramck Police Reserves for 27 years, retiring as Chief.

Kevin has experienced several medical emergencies throughout the years. Every time, he bounces back and stubbornly works through it. But, this time the doctors say it is doubtful that Kevin will ever be able to return to "normal" physical activity. Work is something in his past. Since he is the family breadwinner, he cares for his wife, children, and aging parents. This has put him in a challenging financial situation.

This latest medical setback has forced Kevin to stop working. Although he is a workaholic, this loss of work sets Kevin short of the work credit years that he needs to retire. We hope to help him recoup some of his lost income to continue paying his bills and medical and home expenses while focusing on his health. He is currently waiting for his disability judgment. Medical bills are mounting. Please give what you can to help this selfless man.
