Hi everyone, my name is Haily! I’m a friend and coworker of Alex, we both work as veterinary technicians. Alex also owns “A&M Equine Services” where she offers lessons and training in saddle seat, hunt seat and driving. She owns 4 horses and has an off farm lease, and takes care of 2 of her clients own horses.
Alex’s youngest horse Sam (or Sammy) was diagnosed with Uveitis at only 2yrs old this past March, this condition is also known as “moon blindness.” This means that he has inflammation of the uvea, one of the layers of the eye. This layer contains most of the blood supply to the eye.
Sam was originally in the clear and everything was looking great for awhile until this past weekend. Unfortunately he had to be admitted to Tufts in Grafton and will have to be there for a week, which just to stay there by itself is $2500. Sam currently is getting treatment with three different eye medications and has a drain going through his eye along with 24/7 care, all of which with rack up the price.
I started this fundraiser as a surprise to Alex because she is one of the most selfless, hard working people that I know.
Alex is at the barn every morning at 4:30am cleaning her stalls, feeding, watering administering medication, and turning out horses. She does all of this before her 8-10hour day at work, and then once she gets out of work she does all of the same things and typically doesn’t leave the barn until 11:30pm after lessons and working her horses. Her life is quite literally work, ride, sleep, repeat.
She really deserves a financial break from having to worry about what’s going to be a huge medical bill. If anyone could donate or even just share it would be greatly appreciated. But PLEASE don’t tell Alex!
