Beautiful Brown BOLD Women Project

Beautiful Brown BOLD Women is a vision of Candace King Williams, former model and advocate for women of all ethnicities.
The purpose of this project is to uplift women of color while making a BOLD statement of our strength and feminity while creating a sisterhood of celebration. To accomplish this statement 100 Beautiful Brown BOLD women will take to the streets of the City of Pittsburgh for a photo shoot of key destinations in our city that represent the true characteristics of the women of our city; class, style, strength, love for sports and culture.
The models of the shoot come from all walks of life. Each will tell a story of how they remain beautiful and BOLD in spite of challenges faced by women of color in the Pittsburgh region daily. Some of the challenges faced are the mental health effects of gun violence, poverty and gaps in earned wages, health disparities specific to race, and lack of education. Photographs from the shoot will be on display at an art gallery June 26, 2016 and presented along with the stories of the models to politicians and community leaders with the hopes of better resources for this underrepresented group.
