Asfat has been fighting a painful and exhausting medical battle for over seven years. What started as severe pelvic pain slowly developed into something much more serious, and today she is living with advanced gynecological disease, large uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and severe endometriosis complications.

One of the most frightening parts of her condition is the massive fluid buildup in her abdomen (ascites). Because of this, she now has to go to the hospital every single month to have the fluid drained from her stomach just so she can breathe and function normally.

The photos above shows the amount of fluid that was drained from her body during just one of these procedures.

Imagine living like this — knowing that every few weeks your abdomen will swell again with fluid, causing pain, pressure, and difficulty breathing.

Doctors have warned that if her condition continues to progress, the fluid could eventually begin to affect her lungs, which could become life-threatening.

Her imaging and medical reports show several serious findings. Despite these findings, she continues to be placed on long waitlists and temporary management, while her condition worsens.

She is incredibly grateful to live in Canada, but unfortunately the healthcare system is currently overwhelmed.

For complex gynecological diseases like hers, specialized treatment can take years to access.

Right now the only care she is receiving is symptom management — draining the fluid from her abdomen repeatedly — instead of treating the root cause of the disease.

This cycle has been going on for seven years.

Seven years of pain.

Seven years of hospital visits.

Seven years of waiting for answers.

Meanwhile, her quality of life continues to decline.

After exhausting local options, we have begun looking for specialized surgical treatment outside of Canada, where doctors have experience treating complex cases like hers, with reduced wait times.

The goal is to finally treat the underlying disease, stop the fluid buildup, and give her the chance to live a normal life again.

However, these treatments require significant out-of-pocket medical costs, including:

• Specialist consultations

• Advanced imaging and testing

• Complex surgery

Our hope is simple:

To end the cycle of monthly fluid drainage and finally give my sister her life back.

Watching someone you love suffer for years while waiting for proper care is heartbreaking.

My mother is strong, but no one should have to endure this kind of pain and uncertainty for so long.
