Help with Cost of Funeral
Donation protected
On July 1st, 2018 Marcel Teme went out with his friends to celebrate Canada Day downtown and was randomly shot in the deadly shooting in Kensington Market. He was rushed into the hospital but did not survive.

His mother, Monique Teme Mukanga, is heart broken and filled with grief. She fled her war torn country, the Congo, and came to Canada with her children in hope of giving them a better life. She did not ever imagine that this tragedy would happen to one of her children.
On their arrival in Canada Monique was helped by the Salesian Sisters who offered to mentor the three children especially Marcel who was then in fourth grade. VIDES Canada, a non-profit organization that strives to improve the lives of at-risk youths and women around the world also helped the family.
Marcel was a quiet, joyful, family-oriented boy who was diligent in school. He loved playing basketball, and was talented in sports - he was even sent to US to play basketball in high school. He valued having an education and was planning to further his studies and attend college in the future.
But on July 1st, 2018 a 32-year-old man began shooting at random people in Kensington Market and Marcel and three other bystanders were in the line of fire. Marcel suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead two days later.
Marcel's family is in turmoil and they do not have the money to cover the cost of his funeral.
Monique approached VIDES Canada for financial help but VIDES does not have the means to provide financial support.
However we are not without hope and we have an unshakable faith in God’s provision.
We humbly implore each of you to help us to give Marcel Teme a dignified burial by kindly contributing towards the cost of his funeral.
The cost of a basic funeral is approximately $15,000 CAD.
This is a basic package, which includes the plot for burial, tombstone, basic transportation, and ceremony service costs.
We are grateful for your generosity. May God bless you abundantly.
