On June 3rd, we all lost a piece of our hearts. Y Sy Nguyen had tragically passed leaving behind a mother, many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, including his 4 beloved children. He escaped Vietnam and came to Canada in 1980, not having known any English. Still, he strived for a better life for himself and his family, ultimately bringing over his mom and many of his siblings so they could also lead a better life here in Canada. If he didn't personally sponsor family members he was still present to help get them acclimated to life here and support them any way he knew how. He was the most loving, caring and giving man we all knew. He always brought fun and laughter to the room. A favourite brother, son, uncle and father figure amongst us all. Always here to make us smile or give us insight to his wisdom about life. He wanted the best for all of us. He has two older children, Derek and Monica, with his first partner. Many years later he remarried and had two more beautiful children, Ali and Alena, who heartbreakingly are now only 7 & 10 years of age. Ali and Alena have been in Canada for 2 years now and have not only lost their father, but are currently away from their mother who resides in Vietnam. In honour of one of the best men we knew, we want to continue his journey in making a better life for Alena and Ali, the same way he made an impact on so many of our lives. All funeral costs are taken care of by family, but we would like to forward all funds towards his youngest children so that when the day comes they can attend college, university or a career path of their choice.
