Hi, I'm Karla.

I was encouraged to share our story, in the hope of finding the help we so deeply need.

Let me introduce you to my beautifully imperfect family.

Divorced parents. Two homes, but one united heart.

For the past 10 years, my siblings, our parents’ partners, our parents themselves, and my husband—we’ve all learned to navigate our new normal: a mosaic of stories, laughter, and yes, a bit of chaos. But through it all, by the grace of God, we’ve become more connected and more functional than ever.

And then, cancer came knocking.

It didn’t ask if we were ready.

But we stood together. Shaken, but united.

First, it was my mom—ovarian cancer (CA-125).

Surgeries. Chemotherapy. Fear wrapped in love and hugs.

And just when we thought we were past the worst—one year chemo-free—a PET scan revealed a tumor in her kidney.

So, we brace ourselves once again: another biopsy, another treatment plan.

But life wasn’t done testing us.

Now it’s my dad - a tumor in the pancreas (C19-9 = 1215 U/mL).

Two life-altering diagnoses.

Still, we remain together—fighting.

My dad urgently needs Whipple surgery.

It’s not optional. Not elective. It’s the only real shot at a cure.

This surgery is the one chance we have to give him a future.

We’ve spent weeks waiting on a response from IMSS.

Cancelled appointments. Repeated paperwork. Endless bureaucracy.

But cancer doesn’t wait.

Pain doesn’t wait.

And we can’t afford to wait any longer.

Time is running out.

Our only immediate option is to move forward with the surgery privately.

The cost: $500,000 MXN.

For our family, this amount is unreachable. But we refuse to give up without a fight.

So today, with hearts in hand, we humbly ask for your support.

Les vengo a contar acerca de Mi familia disfuncional muy funcional

Padres divorciados. Una casa partida, pero un corazón compartido.

Durante estos 10 años, mis hermanos, las parejas de mis papas, mis padres, mi esposo aprendiendo a adaptarnos a nuestra nueva normalidad: un mosaico de historias, risas, y sí, algo de caos, aún que puedo decir que gracias a Dios ahora mucho más funcionales.

Y entonces el cáncer tocó la puerta. Y no preguntó si estábamos listos. Pero ahí estuvimos todos. Juntos. Rotos, pero juntos.

Primero en mamá cáncer de ovario (CA- 125). Cirugías, quimioterapia, miedos envueltos en abrazos.

Y cuando creímos que ya estábamos saliendo... ya a 1 año sin quimioterapia llega el PET scan a decirnos que hay tumoración en riñon... Aún así seguimos trabajando para volver a pasar por biopsia y definir el nuevo tratamiento...

Pero la vida nos tenía preparado otro golpe.

Ahora papá, tumoración en páncreas (C19-9= 1215 U/mL)

Dos diagnósticos que nos cambiaron la vida.

Pero seguimos ahí, juntos.

Mi papá necesita una cirugía de Whipple.

No es opcional. No es electiva. Es urgente.

Tiene cáncer de páncreas, y esta cirugía es la única posibilidad real de tratamiento con intención curativa.

Llevamos semanas esperando una respuesta del IMSS.

Consultas que se cancelan. Trámites que se repiten. Ventanillas que cambian.

Mientras tanto, el cáncer no espera.

El dolor no espera.

Nosotros no queremos esperar más.

El tiempo se agota.

Y la única opción inmediata es operarlo de forma particular.

La cirugía cuesta $500,000 MXN

Es una cantidad imposible para nuestra familia, pero no queremos rendirnos sin luchar.

Por eso hoy, con el corazón en la mano, pedimos ayuda.

Cada peso cuenta.

Sabemos que no estamos solos.
