Hello everyone, my name is Sharon Blank Roseboom and I currently live in South Central Louisiana. I am reaching out for help in a new medical journey that I have recently embarked on. Over the last several years my health has been steadily declining, which has really been a burden on me physically, mentally and emotionally. Over the last few years, I have been diagnosed with numerous medical issues including COPD, Rheumatoid Arthritis, fibromyalgia, interstitial lung disease, Parkinson’s, Hypocalcemia, just to name a few. You can imagine how these have taken a toll on my everyday life.
To make things even worse for my situation, in March of 2024, I was diagnosed with bronchomalacia, via a bronchoscopy that was done at the time. This scope discovered that 90 percent of my trachea was collapsing as well as both of my bronchial tubes. This condition has been continuously affecting my everyday way of life. I have had to sleep upright in a bed or chair since the diagnosis. This also leaves me with a constant cough, that sounds like a dog barking, which is both humiliating and exhausting.
Recently there has been a speck of hope with my situation! Given my current situation with the collapsed trachea, I was able to qualify for a specialized surgical intervention, which would take place in Birmingham, Alabama. This intervention would mean that medical doctors would sew in mesh material on my trachea and bronchial tubes. It is called a Tracheobronchoplasty. This would allow my air way to be completely open again allowing me to find some much needed relief.
This upcoming journey is one with uncertainty and honestly, just plain fear. Not knowing how all of this will conclude. Financially, it is uncertain what will be covered by my insurance. Also needing to travel to Birmingham for multiple appointments. Accommodations, food, parking fees, fuel, and medications also not covered by my insurance.
Any help financially and spiritually would be much appreciated. Thank you so much.
All my love,
Sharon
