November is Epilepsy Awareness Month and our great friend Jackie Torres who was diagnosed at 13, has been resilient through the years. She has always managed to strive through this battle with such grace and humility. She is the character of optimism and always brings sunshine to any room she enters. She is inspirational in her positivity, for such a young and otherwise healthy woman.
Unfortunately in October 2022 she suffered from a life changing seizure that caused her to break her neck and requiring emergency spinal surgery. This resulted in stays in ICU care and rehabilitation. The recovery will be long and strenuous having to relearn basic motor skills, walking independently and regaining senses. Family and friends have gathered together resources in efforts to assist since she is no longer capable of working and insurance does not cover all costs. Medication and rehab which are essential to the recovery, however not cheap and we are asking for any help you’re willing to provide as we try to regain a sense of normalcy. We are grateful for any support even as simple as a share as we go into the holiday season. Please aid us in getting Jackie back on her feet (literally).
