Hello Everyone,
My name is Martha Otero-Vergara. I am Nuvana Ivory's younger sister. First and foremost, we want to thank everyone and anyone who has taken the time to contact my sister and provide her with the upmost respect and support during these trying times. All of your support is acknowledged and appreciated.
On the early morning of February 6th, Nuvana Ivory experienced a life-altering tragedy, a fire occurred in her apartment, causing her to lose to 90-95% of her belongings. Her sense of peace and most of all, the loss of her belongings, disrupted her day to day living. Losing materialistic items and memorabilia of your life is a tragic experience, especially after fighting throughout life's strongest battles to enjoy what you've worked for. This fire has not only impacted Nuvana but also her beautiful dog, Diamond. When the fire occurred, Nuvana was on her way to work, leaving Diamond alone and facing this fire without her mom's love and protection, but the immediate attention and support from surrounding, loving neighbors. Although physically unharmed, Diamond is traumatized and may need help in the future. This disaster has not only left them both mentally and emotionally traumatized, but it has left them without their essentials and their forever home.
With the original GoFundMe that was created, we were able to assist them with her transportation to and from her temporary place of living, gathering her essentials for living as comfortably as we can make her throughout the interim of our efforts to get her a more permanent solution - which we have! We are reaching out to our community to request support with moving expenses due to circumstances far beyond our control. Since this fire has occurred, Nuvana has been living in temporary accommodations. We have been informed that her home has been remodeled and ready to for her to move back into, however, the financial burden of moving - particularly after the unexpected costs incurred due to the fire and temporary displacement - is more than she manage on her own.
Nuvana is a special person to many of us. As a resident of Jamaica Plain for over 13 years, she has touched the hearts of so many local JP and Boston residents, by serving food to the community along with her mother, Sabrina Ivory, and doing community events to bring in clothes, school supplies, and gifts for children and families in need. We are asking for help during this time as we want to repay Nunu for her resilience, passion, and courage during this heart-wrenching time.
We are humbly requesting support during this time with the moving expenses needed to help Nunu be placed back into her forever home! The donations received will be directly supporting moving transportation, packing and any necessary setup to safely and promptly welcome them back into their home!
We want to thank Nuvana for her resilience, passion and courage throughout this entire process! She truly is a warrior, and we know this is just the beginning of what God has in store for her.
We appreciate all of you who have taken the time to reach out, offer support, resources and words of encouragement during this very difficult, unprecedent event that occurred. With your continued love and support, we'll be able to make Nunu's house a home for again and bring back that sense of safety and comfort amongst her neighbors, friends and colleagues in the Jamaica Plain area.
God is good, all the time!
Thank you All & With Great Love,
Ivory Family
